In this workshop we will give you an introduction to an effective and democratic decision making practice – consent-based decision-making. We will also give you a chance to try it out for yourself and explore how it could help your team to listen to all voices as well as make progress on getting things done. Finally, we’ll reflect on what we’ve learnt and experienced in the workshop and you’ll identify any next steps to using some or all of these concepts and practices within your own co-op.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course participants will have:
- Understood the concept of “consent” and the range of tolerance
- Explored the difference between voicing a preference and a ‘critical concern’;
- Practised running a proposal using the consent based decision making process
- Clarified personal and organisational next steps in implementing this process
