Join us to investigate how we can create a better food and catering sector in Islington, centred around people and planet.

About this event

Islington is home to a vast number of small food businesses. The rich cultural make-up of Islington means these businesses are extremely varied.

It would be great to see a more joined-up food economy in Islington, where buyers such as schools, hospitals and big businesses satisfy their catering needs from within Islington. This would mean that buyers benefit from the choice of cuisines available, can reinvest in the local economy, and reduce their carbon footprint. These large buyers would also make a big difference to small caterers and suppliers, allowing them to scale.

We are hosting a roundtable to bring together people from all parts of the catering supply chain in Islington. This roundtable is an opportunity to begin to understand opportunities to develop a local catering network that puts people and the environment first, and enriches the local economy.

What to expect:

  • Introductions and networking
  • Overview of vertical and horizontal value chains and identification of stakeholders along those chains
  • Exploration of supply and demand in food and catering in Islington
  • Exploration of opportunities and challenges to match supplier and buyers in a co-operative way.
  • Next steps in Islington
